Shame Shame Barkha Dutt!

She got caught. Now if only Barkha Dutt would own the hell up! I mean here you are caught on tape conversing with politicians clearly agreeing to lobby for them and you still expect us to expect your "authenticity" claim as important? Its sad that such a renowned journalist like Dutt stooped the lowest level in the world possible. And worst part is she is chooses to evade herself from the situation. You've been caught Madam! It irks me that people actually believed she was the most honest face of the Indian media. So much for that huh? Granted there are unanswered questions. We don't know why the conversations were recorded or how they got into the hands of Open Magazine but irrespective, your little golmaal madam Dutt, simply wasn't foolproof enough apparently. And as much as the likes of Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi (his exposure really upset me) choose to deny their association in the "scam", they are a part of it. They scream and shout of the government being corrupt, but they clearly are no less. They sit and protect government officials who are cheating the country! If you help such people, you are clearly no less and deserve to be punished. These journalists represent brands and huge media stations: NDTV and Hindustan Times. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.

What's worst, no media outlet - print, online or television, wanted to break this story. It was all over Twitter and yet, no one them wanted to come out and spill the beans. Why? Clearly they too are scared of being exposed or worried that they too may come under fire. But only the guilty would feel that way. Are the likes of Times of India worried of their own journalists being a part of the same scam? This is thoroughly unprofessional. But what does that mean? Do we boycott and shun these media outlets? Maybe not but the Press Council to India should and must intervene. This is unacceptable. In the meantime, both these so-called journalists should be forced to resign. Actually why "forced?" If they had any shame, they'd do it voluntarily.
If the media can't help expose the bad and ugly, they do not deserve such a platform.

Following the updates on Twitter, I saw a number of citizens question other uninvolved Indian journalists who turned around and were innately rude to the tweeters. But the one that irked me the most was one that told the tweeter to "learn English". How dare the media come out and speak that way! Its simply disgusting. They sing hymns of ethics and morals, of patriotism and nationalism, of a clean uncorrupted India. All lies and rubbish.

Today they have put the Indian media to shame. Down with them, I say.

They all are corrupt, they all are party to it. Politicians, Media, bureaucrats and other people on the top have form a unison. They are looting the public. Open any news channel or read any newspaper.. half the time you will spend seeing and reading stuff which are of no use.

You have done a good job but they are the fish of deep water. So, we can't do anything against them. But we must open a campaign that do not follow Barkha in twitter and don't follow her in facebook. Second thing the same channel NDTV had raise the issue against CWG corruption but after 1 week this channel appeal to the people come and join hand to success CWG because CWG had awarded them crore rupees in terms of advertisement. In our country each and every media is run by political party.

Barkha Dutt is corrupt. She is not genuine and unbiased though she always tries to pretend that she has a neutral stand on any topic.

Hello! Just discovered your blog and Im really impressed.

About Barkha Datt though, it was indeed a sad day for Indian media which has till now blatantly painted an incompetent picture of the Indian Govt throughout the world in the name of Public Interest. Seems they forgot all about it when they found themselves on the other side of the fence.

Virendra - It is really sad to see a few bad apples like Barkha, Vir and Prabhu Chawala have raised such a doubt in peoples mind whether to trust media. Journalists/Media is the mirror of democracy. They should be held responsible if found guilty. Journalists are also part of the democratic setup and need to abide by the same ethical standard. If politicians like Ashok Chavan, Kalmadi etc. in current political scenario are held responsible and dace the consequences, so do these journalists.

Such journalist like Barkha Dutt are shame on India. She must be shacked. Moreover, we can boycott NDTV and boycott NDTV shown product advertisments. Also, don't purchase stuff that is shown on NDTV as advertisment. Because, such type of corrupted industralist are shame too. we as people can teach them, if united

I was naive to believe that we as in Indians have left our past of corruption and entered a new ear of transparency and responsibility, but here again a new scam. I always had my doubts that media is somehow in cahoots with the political establishment. But the likes of Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghiv to be part of that bandwagon was unthinkable. Barkha Dutt for one was always on top of "Corruption". It is sad and disgusting at the same to time that she was protecting these corrupt politicians. Madam you are caught with your "Pajama" down, now don't try to cover up your face with the Kurti. The best thing for you and the journalist community is to step down and resign and apologizes to the Indian population whom you had robbed of $36.xxx billion.

Good post Roshni, keep up the good work.

Many NDTV journalist are mediocre and pro-congress lobbyist working under the guise of journalist,Barkha Dutt is no exception....also you will notice how Nidhi Razdan acts as a Congress Spokeswoman, watch two three episodes of the programme and you will know what i am saying especially in the case of anti-corrution campaign led by Anna Hazare.I think she has many close congress friends.
